UGH: Rebecca Pullover, 9

I just finished the Adrienne Vittadini Rebecca Pullover #9.

UGH!
I think one of the few things going for this sweater is that it satisfies my requirement for the NaKniSweMoDo March Sweater. Oh yes and it's green, so it also qualifies for Project Spectrum.

The main problem is that it has this bizarre underarm bulging thing going on. Not an attractive look is it:

I looked back at the pattern and see a hint at this, but also that they have the sides pulled waaaay down (I wonder, with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, if that's to combat the bulge effect?). Needless to say I tried this but it just looked odd! ;o)

So what to do? I'm toying with seaming again and taking in extra from the underam area to see if that would help. And perhaps seeing if there's a way to reduce the length of the sleeves. But for now I'm going to tuck it in the back of my closet and devote my attention to prettier things...

Ah, how frustrating. I've never had luck with that style of sleeve, even on store-bought sweaters.

I don't think I would have ever noticed...until you said something. COngrats on checking off another sweater for 2009 though!

There is the basic problem with dolman sleeves--easy to knit, but don't fit, except in very drapey yarns. It looks like such nice yarn, though, and is a great looking sweater except for that one thing. You wouldn't notice the bulge under a jacket.

I agree with Stacy- I wouldn't have noticed had you not said anything. I think it's cute!

I don't think anyone would notice. I've made sleeves like that and it is frustrating to not be able to lengthen/shorten the sleeves easily. I think its a cute sweater!

Bummer about the sweater. It is cute though. Too bad about the sleeves.

It has to be more "soft-down", a soft line over shoulders... But I think you have done a great job and it's not easy to work all the sweater without scratches!

Let it in that way, it's only a little wrinkle, not so bad problem! :-)

It doesn't bother me and I wouldn't have noticed it. It is such a cute little sweater though.
