You may recall that I'd set a goal to have it completed by the end of my maternity leave. Ahem, yes, that was 2 months ago! To be fair, if I'd stuck with the 42 squares that the pattern called for, I would have been done at that time.
Unfortunately though, it just seemed a little small - more of a lap blanket than a snuggly throw. I tried to convince myself otherwise. That it really was big enough. I even tested with Joe: "It's a good size, right?" But both he and the nagging feeling in the back of my mind confirmed that it needed to be bigger. That ultimately I'd be disappointed if I kept the size as-is. Thing was I was a little burnt out on the non-stop knitting of squares - the thought of having to make oodles more just wasn't appealing. So I hid it away for a little while.
But it's back out of hibernation now, and I have a renewed interest to complete. Let's see how this goes... (Btw - if anyone said they were knitting a blanket out of sock yarn, wouldn't you think they were bonkers?)
But if you didn't, you wouldn't have all these adorable photos of Naomi amongst the squares! I think your squares are great, keep strong ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't know. I'm working on three blankets out of sock yarn, so next to me you look sane!
ReplyDeleteI love sock yarn blankets, though. The weight is lovely and since most are knit in a modular style, which makes it feel much more manageable, at least to me.
And yours amazing. I love the saturated colors!
These are great photos of Naomi :) I just love all your squares! I bet you'll be able crank the rest out in no time! I really need to work on mine again.
ReplyDeleteI love knitting but if I had that little love I would really find it hard to want to knit. I probably would want to squeeze her every minute! Well I am currently working on the Mitered sock yarn blanket and it is insane! I was thinking of the barn raising blanket for my next one. :)
ReplyDeleteI think your project looks gorgeous. It will be nice for winter to have a snuggly blanket. Glad to see you ended up with the Whirligig shrug. I believe I may have even voted for that. It turned out great!
ReplyDeleteNaomi is darling! And those squares are great!
